7 Reasons why I chose Nokia 5800 over iPhone
I was planning to buy a new phone for myself since my current phone (N80) is kinda faced-out already and it’s kinda bulky now, but still, I love the features. So I was considering to buy an Apple iPhone, but I chose Nokia 5800, why?
Here is my 7 reasons why I chose Nokia 5800 over an Apple iPhone:
1. Cheaper.
Well, cost is what I lookup first when it comes to buying things. Hey, what do you expect, I’m a guy! Guys look at prices first, hehe. Anyways, here in the Philippines, Nokia 5800 is way cheaper than Apple iPhone. Globe Telecom, the official distributor of Apple iPhone in the Philippines, offers the prepaid handset for over P40,000, approximately about $800. That’s way too expensive for me. I’m just a regular guy and my income isn’t that high either.
2. FM Radio
Since I love music, 5800 has a built-in FM Radio feature on and iPhone doesn’t.
3. Web Browser
I know, both of the phones do have browsers in it, but the problem is, iPhone doesn’t have Flash built-in. So you have to buy an application for it since it’s a 3rd party app, and it is expensive. 5800′s webkit based browser supports Flash Lite, so it’s possible to browse on webpages that are Flash enabled.
4. Storage
iPhone only comes with two options, 8GB and 16GB internal memory. 5800 is more flexible when it comes to storage. You can choose between 8GB and 16GB Micro SD cards.
5. Resolution
iPhone’s resolution is 480 x 320, while 5800′s is 640 x 360.
6. Battery
This is what disappoints me most on iPhone. Its battery isn’t removable. If the battery’s dead, you have to ship it to Apple for replacement, and that costs money, plus the replacement battery.
7. Camera
I love photography and taking videos, so camera is kinda important to me on my phones. iPhone has a camera too but only has 1 camera, 2 Mega Pixels, no zoom and no flash. 5800 has 3.2 Mega Pixel camera, 3x digital zoom with Carl Zeiss lens and a 2nd camera available in front for video calling.
That sums it up. There’s many things that I love on my 5800 that iPhone doesn’t have. But the most important is, the price. Hehehe.

You have given practical reasons for choosing nokia 5800. Good decision. The most important feature iphone misses on is the flash built-in web browser.
But those who are really looking for a cell phone loaded with games and music and are not so picky about the price, i feel iphone simply rocks.
