I think it happens anywhere. I have a roaming prepaid SIM from my home country and I have been using it for almost a year. I really thought those messages wont reach me, half way across the globe. Guess what?! I still receive them. I would not consider it as annoying because I am reminded where I come from. As long as I don’t reply or give in to their so called “promos”, I should be pretty safe from adding them up to my bill. :D

I hate that kind of messages too, specially when I am using my samsung. It's like every 5mins, there's this GLive that pops-out... Urgh! Even when I switch to another network profile for my GPRS, it still pops-out. Sometimes I get this feeling that "hayyy... baka binawasan nanaman ang load ko nito". That's why sometimes, I rather use my old 3310 :| It doesn't have much fuss pa.

And also, their promos... such as when you join their contest and register, you will have a monthly subscription of ringtones for 15pesos. Sheeeesh! I rather not join in their contests. So that makes 15pesos per month ang bawas sa load mo. See? <__<

It's really annoying.
