Beware of PayPal Phishing Emails
First, let me discuss to you what “phishing” means. As what St. Peter Prince defined it, is the act of tricking someone into giving them confidential information or tricking them into doing something that they normally wouldn’t do or shouldn’t do. For example: sending an e-mail to a user falsely claiming to be an established legitimate enterprise in an attempt to scam the user into surrendering private information that will be used for identity theft.
This time, PayPal phishers or let’s just say, thieves has done very well on tricking PayPal users. By the look of the email, if someone didn’t analyzed it, you could easily be a victim.
Take a look at this for instance: Click to view full
That was the email sent to me. And this is what it’s like on the inside: Click to view full
If you aren’t cautious enough to check where the link goes, you’ll be easily trapped. Notice the email address used, @PayPaI.com It’s with a letter “I”, not letter L. And also check where the link goes, you can see it on the bottom of your browser if you hover on top of the link. If it goes to the real PayPal site, its authentic, but if isn’t, then better don’t click any. It’s clearly a phishing site.
Now if you happen to somehow clicked on the link and you didn’t know, inform PayPal.com immediately on the matter.
