How To Get Your Static IPv6 Address

As I was discussing the IPv6 Launch on the last post, IPv4 is depleting rapidly these days and the forecast is IPv4 addresses will run out this year. The upgraded version of the Internet Protocol addresses is IPv6, and not all ISPs offer it yet. PLDT DSL doesn’t give any IPv6 addresses yet, only Globe Telecom offers IPv6 addresses in the Philippines as of today.

How Do I Get an IPv6?

Simple, it’s called “Tunnel Brokers”, which enables you to reach IPv6 internet by tunneling over existing IPv4 connection from your IPv6 enabled PCs and laptops. Globe Telecom is very kind enough to be the first IPv6 tunnel broker in the Philippines but the speed isn’t that fast.

There are a lot of tunnel brokers out there (FREE), just ask Google and you’ll find many. The ones I know of is, Globe Telecom, HE.net and Freenet6 and here’s how:

How To Save Cellphone Battery Power

Are you wondering why your cellphone battery power drains fast? Well, there are several things that are causing it. It maybe the applications that are running in the background, playing music/videos and the most taken-for-granted one, Network Mode.

So there are several things you can do to save battery power.

Install a Software to Close Background Apps That are Not in Use

There are softwares out there that are compatible to your phones that can manage your background apps and close them when not in use. For Symbian s60v5, I am using Ramblow. On Ramblow, you can select apps that you can protect, which means it’ll not be closed when Ram flushing is done.

Lower the Music Volume

This is something I’ve noticed, the lower the volume is, the longer your battery life will be. Or just get a separate music player, don’t use your phone as a music player.

Turn Your Network Mode to GSM Only

If you aren’t using the mobile internet (3G), turn it off or on Symbian phones, set your phones to GSM only mode. I don’t know how to set it on other phones but I have two examples to give you.

Nokia 5800 XpressMusic (Just follow these steps). This would be similar to any other versions of Nokia phones except Windows Mobile phones that Nokia is releasing now:

Facebook Major Changes

Facebook has some major changes on their interface. Some users don’t like it, some others do, like me! I like it much better now with the new interface, the news feed and live activity stream, subscribe button, etc. I guess users would just get used to it soon.

Here’s my list of changes I noticed as of today, September 21, 2011:

News Feed

We all are used to the old news feed that floods it and now, it’s more flexible. You can choose specifically who you would want news to feed from, pin some top stories you like and watch it update, and many more. I liked this feature.
